This past December, Mrs. Mullis and our Fourth Grade students organized a toy collection for the Columbus Firemen's Cheer Fund. The class created posters to motivate their fellow students to contribute to this worthwhile cause. They organized the donated toys, categorized them, and helped to load them up for delivery.
WCLS contributed over 150 items to the Cheer Fund! What a wonderful way to share the love of Christ by spreading holiday cheer to those in need. Thanks to everyone who participated!
This project is one of many that give White Creek students an opportunity to practice Christian service. Parents and educators know that regular practice is what it takes to improve skills and develop good habits. This is true in regards to math facts, reading fluency, athletic skills, music techniques and problem solving. A student's day is full of practice! At White Creek Lutheran School, students also practice generosity. They are given many opportunities to consider the needs of others and share their blessings. Some other projects our students are involved in include:
- Making and sending cards to shut-ins
- Assembling craft packages for children in hospitals
- Giving offerings to local, national, and international missions
- Helping care for the school building and grounds
It is our hope that by making service a regular part of our days, weeks and school years, students grow up to have habits of compassion, generosity and care. We hope to watch them become citizens who serve God by serving their neighbors.
