On Monday, May 9th, White Creek Lutheran School hosted its very first Kindy 500. It started at 1:45 pm. We want to thank the 6th,7th, and 8th graders for making the cardboard cars for the kindergarteners. They were all very creatively constructed and decorated. The kindergarteners “wore” their cardboard cars and ran two laps around the church. After the first lap they stopped for a “pit stop” and changed their shoes. After they changed their shoes, they could get a drink of water if they were thirsty.
At the end of the race the drivers all got little trophies and drank milk. The kindergarten racers even kissed the bricks near the start line. Each class had a part in making the Kindy 500 a special school-wide event: 1st graders led the Pledge of Allegiance; the 2nd and 3rd graders sang “God Bless America;” the 4th graders sang “Back Home Again in Indiana;” the 5th graders acted as the safety crew; and the 6th,7th, and 8th graders made the cars and were in charge of the pit crew. That day it was very sunny and shady, and everyone had a great race.
