This past month, the sixth grade class at White Creek organized a meaningful service project to help support Ascension Lutheran School in Gary, Indana. Ascension Lutheran School is a mission school which is in need of many necessary resources. Ascension is located in a struggling community, and they don’t have the financial support that many other Lutheran schools have. Ascension was started as a Kindergarten in 2017, and with every passing year a grade is added. Ascension now offers classes for Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
The White Creek service project is a fundraiser developed by the sixth graders and Mrs. Blomenberg. They are selling Frozen Treats to students and teachers every Friday for one dollar. The sixth graders also collected new and gently used school supplies. Mrs. Blomenberg and the sixth graders know that this is an important project because God commands us to love our neighbors. ”In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven.” Matthew 5:16
